NB IoT and CAT M1
NB IoT and CAT M1

NB-IoT (narrowband IoT) and CAT-M1, these are both LPWAN technology offered by GSM network operators.  NB IoT has a peak data rate for 250kbs but will work reliably at low single strength. CAT M1 provides up to 1 Mbps but require a stronger single.

Both these technologies are delivered by local cellular provides and require a SIMM card to operate on individual networks

Short Range Radio Options

Bluetooth
Bluetooth

The DTM and DTMv have integrated Bluetooth. This allows short-range sensor to sensor communication and is used by the WMAC Android app to configure and setup the unit at installation and to access the onboard memory.

The APP can be used by service staff to view what is going on. Voltage and Current information can be viewed from the safety of the service truck. Fault detection in the pouring rain can now be done safely and in the comfort of the service vehicle.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi

Inside factories or substations where existing Wi-Fi networks already exist, a Wi-Fi radio option provides a high-speed communication alternative to the wide-area networks.

This means sampling rate of sub 1 minute is possible. Which opens up other use cases especially around condition monitoring.
